Can a Pregnant Woman Take Robitussin Night Time

Is Robitussin DM really okay to take while pregnant?

I am 8 weeks pregnant and have a really bad cold. I read on here that i can take Robitussin DM for my cold. I don't go back to the doctor until thursday. So i really dont know if i can take this stuff. my nose is stuffed i have a bad cough. I have already tried the warm water with salt (it helped a little) and the honey with lemon. Any advice on the Robitussin or if i can take another alternative. Please help.

i hate how ppl are yelling at me for taking the robitussin dm... my baby dr is the one who told me to take it.. and i feel like just because others suffered with a cold or being sick doesnt mean i have to.. im pretty sure my dr wont give me something that will hurt my baby that badly.. i mean theres no alcohol in it or anything and i just want to breath and stop coughing...

yes! Robitussin DM is safe and I am taking it now.I am 37 weeks prego! I have to get well before the baby comes! I keep drinking lemon and warm water, gargling salt and warm water 2x a day , inhaling salt and hot water...but didnt help..SO no choice but to take robitussin!!

Just to put my 2 cents in, I know this is an old post but I had the same question. I called my doctor today for the same reason, he advised me not to rake DM but the regular Robitussin because the guafinesin (sp?) in the DM hasn't been studied much to see what affects it has on a fetus

I just developed a pretty bad cold and I keep getting mixed answers. My doc said to take it, but everyone else said their docs and midwives said no. I put a call into my midwife so we'll see what she has to say when I hear back.

Yes Robitussin, Tylenol cold, and Vicks 44 are all safe to take throughout your whole pregnancy.

No. Do NOT take Robitussin DM. It has not been studied enough on a fetus. Regular Robitussin is okay. Not DM. So yeah that's why people are probably screaming at you. And I'm a pharmacist, so I have some background knowledge

It's not recommend to take any kind of over the counter cold medicine while pregnant. There are too many active ingredients that could harm the fetus. That's what I was told by both my doctor and the pharmacist. You can use nasal spray. That's helped me a lot when I was stuffy. You can also take lozenge( cough drops)

Baby center states it's ok to take robitussin dm after 12 weeks.
